The Detroit Tigers have hired University of Michigan pitching coach Chris Fetter as the team's new pitching coach.  He replaces Rick Anderson in that role.  He joins new manager A.J. Hinch on the coaching staff.

Fetter was with the Wolverines during the school's run to the College World Series championship series in 2019 before losing to eventual national champion Vanderbilt.

Fetter will be counted on to help develop young starting pitchers Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal, as well as top prospects Alex Faedo and Matt Manning.

The Tigers are scheduled to open the 2021 season on April 1st, 2020 at Comerica Park against the Cleveland Indians.  Whether fans will be in attendance is yet to be determined.
