As the Red Wings build for the future, this is a story fans don't want to hear.   A recent report from Russia has a Wings prospect heading to Russia next season.

According to M-Live, Evgeny Svechnikov agent denied that Evgeny will head to the KHL in Russia next year and is committed to the Red Wings.

Svechnikov has spent most of this season in Grand Rapids with the Griffins.   He was the Red Wings top pick in the 2015 draft.  Injuries have been the story for him recently as he missed all of last year with ACL surgery.

Despite a wrist injury this year, Svechnikov has 11 goals and 23 points in 45 games with the Griffins this season.

The older brother of Carolina Hurricanes star, Andrei, Evgeny will be a restricted free agent after the season.

Hopefully Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings will give him a chance to see what he can do.   If not this season, hopefully they can give him a spot on the team next season.
