Detroit Red Wings Players Land New Numbers For The New Season

Still have a Valtteri Filppula Red Wings jersey?  Filppula gets his old number back with four other players picking up new ones.

According to Winging it in Motown,  Filppula will have his number 51 back as Frans Nielsen will now wear number 81.

Filppula was a recent free agent signing for the Red Wings and returns to wear his old number.

Former Michigan State star Taro Hirose will switch to #67.  He wore number 53 when he made his debut for the Red Wings late last season.

Two other new Red Wings players, forward Patrik Nemeth and recent acquisition, Adam Erne will wear #22 and #73.

All five players will be in training camp when the Red Wings head to Traverse City on September 13th.

The Red Wings regular season will begin on Saturday, October 5th in Nashville against the Predators.
