Dangerous Swimming Conditions on Lake Michigan Today
The southern part of Lake Michigan will have high waves today and tomorrow, making it unsafe for swimming. So, don't.
According to WSBT.com, southern Lake Michigan will be seeing rip currents and 4-7 foot waves today and tomorrow. These conditions were present late last week, when two people drowned and several people had to be rescued.
This has been a strange year on the lake, with high water levels, warmer than average water temperatures in some places and late last week, according to WOOD-TV, cold water temperatures due to something called "upwelling", which made he water 25 degrees colder at Grand Haven than South Haven.
Stay safe - and just don't go in the water for the next couple of days. There's plenty of summer left.
