Dan Dakich Really Doesn’t Care That Tim Staudt Thinks He Needs To Shut Up, Really
Last week, Dan Dakich was on the Mad Dog Show in part to preview the remainder of the Big Ten season and upcoming Big Ten tournament, but it's what another host said about him that really made the exchange tense.
As any Michigan State basketball fan will remember Dakich has recent history with MSU in regards to some comments he made about the school and its students, and some perceived bad blood he and Tom Izzo may have. Many in Spartan Nation wanted an explanation, an apology, something. Dakich at the time offered very little.
Dakich's interview opens with Mad Dog asking straight up if Dakich and Izzo are cool. After a bristly answer between yes and I don't care, a promo is played (set up by Mad Dog) with midday host Tim Staudt remarking among other things "does Dakich ever shut up?".
"Is this how the interview is gonna go?" Dakich asked after hearing said promo. After some words back and forth the interview calmed down but ultimately the good vibes could not be salvaged.
When asked if he'd come back on the Mad Dog show Dakich replied "Nah, nah, I'm good".
You can hear the exchange in the YouTube video below.
While Dakich's beef with Izzo and specifically the Izzone was more public on twitter, this beef (be it with Mad Dog or Tim Staudt, or even WVFN as a whole) has not made any tweets from Dakich or the hosts in question.
There is one last chance that Michigan State basketball and Dan Dakich's worlds collide this season. A Friday third round matchup should Michigan State defeat the winner of Penn State and Nebraksa would see the Spartans play Minnesota on ESPN live from the Verizon Center. There is no information at this time if Dakich would be on the call for that game.
