The College Football Playoff Committee announced on Thursday that they have changed the dates for the College Football Playoff semifinals starting with the 2018 season.

The CFP has received criticism for have the CFP semifinals on New Year's Eve, which is when the semis were played last season.  The TV ratings for the Oklahoma-Clemson and Michigan State-Alabama games were markedly less than it was following the 2014 season.

The dates will either be on January 1st or on the Saturday before New Year's Day.
