CMU Drops Men’s Track & Field
Central Michigan University athletic director Michael Alford announced on Tuesday that the school is eliminating the men's indoor and outdoor track and field program, effective immediately.
Alford cites declining enrollment and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as reasons why the university dropped the sport.
36 student-athletes will be affected by the move. Any athletes who wish to transfer to another school can do so without penalty.
This move drops the amount of sports to 16 at CMU, the minimum required to stay at the Division I level.
