The Pirates were defeated on their home floor late in 2017 by the Dansville Aggies, and on Wednesday it was the Pirates turn to be the rude house guests. The Pirates won 44-42 on a last second shot from Bryce Thelen that proved to be the winner.

Dansville struggled in the 2nd quarter only scoring one three-point basket from Carter Frantz. That second quarter put the Aggies down 11 by halftime.

However, a resilient Dansville squad kept fighting and stayed in the game thanks in part to a dominant effort from Caleb Hodgson who finished the night with 19 points. Hodgson put in his last two points with about six seconds left in the game on a tip-in play that sent the gym into a frenzy. Luke Pohl of P-W called his final timeout as his guys pushed up the floor.

With 4.2 seconds left on the clock and neither team with a timeout, Pohl needed to draw up a winner, and draw one up he did. Peyton Heckman inbounded from the left sideline to Thelen and even though there were four seconds left on the clock Thelen threw up a 15 foot rainbow floater that went down smoothly. With no timeouts left, Dansville couldn't stop the clock (which continues to run after made baskets in high school) and with 1.5 seconds left when the ball went through there was no time for the Aggies to respond.

P-W is now 5-2 in the CMAC, 6-3 overall. Dansville loses their first in the conference to drop to 5-1 and the Aggies are now 8-2 overall.
