Basketball is my favorite sport.  It's the sport I was best at as a kid.  And when I was growing up in the 1980's, the sport was exploding in popularity.  You had the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks and later, the Detroit Pistons.

So with the NBA Playoffs going on right now, I think it's time to reveal my all-time greatest players.  Just like my all-time starting lineup for baseball, I go back to 1980 because that's when I started watching games.  So that leaves off guys like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, etc.  Just never saw them play on TV or in person.  But I did see the careers of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan (pictured), etc.

So, here's a look at my all-time starting teams, I went with first, second, and third teams.  Two guards, two forwards, and a center.  Let's start with the third team:

Brock's All-Time Basketball Teams

Brock tells us his all-time best players in basketball.

Here are some other lineups that I would also have for special situations:

Down by 1, need a basket to win with less than 5 seconds left:

Magic, Jordan, Bird, Kobe, Hakeem or Tim Duncan

Need a 3 pointer to tie or win with less than 5 seconds left:

Magic (he'd get the ball to the right guy on the inlv, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Reggie Miller, Larry Bird

Need a defensive stop to win a game?

Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, Gary Payton, Dikembe Mutombo, and (even though I don't like him) Scottie Pippen.

If I had one game to win, who is my coach?

Bobby Knight.  In a one-game situation, he could figure out a way to beat you.  Just go watch the 1984 Sweet 16 game between an undermanned Indiana team against North Carolina.  It was his masterpiece in coaching.  Even better than 32-0 in 1976.  And the three national titles with the Hoosiers.  And even though he was a screamer, all of the players above respect him and would listen to him (for one game anyway).

What do you think of the list?  Let us know!!!
