Bowhunting Season Extended In Metro Detroit
If you want to squeeze out a few more bow hunting trips this year, Metro Detroit is your destination. Wildlife officials have announced that bow hunting season has been extended through January 31, 2020, in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties.
The extension is part of a pilot program that started in 2017 and is used to manage the amount of deer in rural areas. This is the final year of the pilot program and the results of the extended hunting seasons will determine whether or not the program will continue in the future.
According to Patch.com: "After this season closes, the DNR will evaluate the pilot program's results and determine whether to recommend similar opportunities in the future. During the deer regulations cycle in 2020, the Michigan Natural Resources Commission will decide if the program is to be extended."
