Big second half vaults DeWitt to lopsided victory.
It what started as an entertaining CAAC Red vs Blue battle, became a no-contest after 3 quarters. Big games from Luke Hyde and Tanner Reha helped the DeWitt Panthers to a 64-44 win over the Holt Rams Tuesday night. It was a 1-point game at the half, but the Panthers (4-1; 2-0 CAAC Red) kept up the pressure while the Rams (4-1; 2-0 CAAC Blue) settled for jumpers and 3-pointers. In the end, what was a back-and-forth game, became a blowout. Holt shot 4-18 in the second half (including 1-14 from beyond the arc), and couldn't get their few layups to fall. Meanwhile DeWitt, kept moving without the ball and finding themselves open for several shots. Hyde, a Senior who is committed to Grand Valley State, dominated the boards and scored nearly at will from the paint, posting 26 pts and 13 reb. While Reha, a Senior committed to Northwood University, dropped 17 pts, 5 reb & 5 ast. The Rams were led by Senior Troy Jordan's 19 pts, with Senior Caleb Cooper chipping in 11 pts off the bench.
