Brendan Quinn of MLive has confirmed that University of Michigan assistant basketball coach Bacari Alexander has accepted the vacant head coaching position at the University of Detroit-Mercy.

He would take over for Ray McCallum, Sr. who was fired after this past season.  Alexander has been an assistant at U-M for the last six seasons under head coach John Beilein.  He was on the staff for the 2013 season, who made it to the National Championship game, where they lost to Louisville.

He is the second Michigan assistant to leave for a head coaching position.  LaVall Jordan left for Wisconsin-Milwaukee two weeks ago.  Bacari is a former Titan player under former head coach Perry Watson.

U-D has called a Friday press conference to announce the hiring.
