SEC Declares Scheduling Flexibility
The SEC postponed four games from this weekend's slate, moving three of the games from Saturday to Dec. 12. Today the conference announced it would include Saturday Dec. 19 as a playing date for the conference. Therefore teams that are not playing in the SEC Championship Game may use that date to make up a game.
Harbaugh Proposes Changes to College System
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh penned an open letter full of proposals that would change the landscape of college football. Harbaugh wants to overhaul the college eligibility system and model it more similarly to college baseball. The Michigan coach reflected on his own career as a a college athlete and his experience as a college coach as a basis for these proposals.
NCAA Moving to Allow Athletes To Profit
According to Ralph Russo of the Associated Press, the NCAA is moving to allow its athletes to strike endorsement deals and profit off their name, image and likeness. For the college football fan this could mean the return of the popular NCAA Football video game franchise but to the athletes it would mean they could profit off their popularity at a young age.
NCAA Approved Rule Changes
According to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved several rule changes for college football. All the rules that were passed today were procedural with the intent of creating a faster and smoother game.
