I've lived in Michigan my entire life and am proud if it! I've been involved in broadcasting since 1996 (covering Lansing Community College basketball). After graduating from Specs Howard Broadcasting School in 1998, I returned to Lansing to join Liggett Broadcasting (now TownsquareMedia). In October of 2000, I moved on to Port Huron, MI and spent seven months there, what an experience that was! In March of 2002, I returned to Lansing to continue my broadcasting career and have been here ever since. I am the very proud uncle of three wonderful kids: Jack, Anna, and Emma. They are an absolute riot, and wish I could see them more. Number 1 on my sports bucket list is to attend a Super Bowl in person. And there are four golf courses in the world that I would love to play on: Augusta National, St. Andrew's, Carnoustie, and Pebble Beach. And one of these days, I'll jump in my car and drive all across America to see some places I haven't seen yet (I've been in 25 states so far).

And we are guaranteed to have at least two area teams in the regional finals next week as the Grand Ledge at Holt winner will advance in Division 1. And the Lansing Catholic at Ovid-Elsie game will move on to Round 3 with a victory in Division 6.

The Michigan high school football playoffs begin tonight (Friday night) all over the state of Michigan. 288 schools will begin their trek towards state titles in ten different classes.

Of the first round matchups, only two of them feature two local teams playing each other (Bath at P-W in Division 7, Olivet at Portland in Division 5). So it's theoretically possible that as few as two area teams still alive after round 1, but as many as 16 teams still left if all of them win.

Congratulations to Holt for clinching a share of the CAAC Blue title with a 16-13 home victory over East Lansing. They didn't make the poll this week. But they'll need to beat 5-3 Ann Arbor Huron to clinch a playoff berth in Division 1.
