As the calendar turns to June the Tigers aren't in the best of spots, currently three games below .500 and five games back of the division lead. Given the expectations behind this team though manager Brad Ausmus has announced a move to drop Anibal Sanchez out of the starting rotation on Wednesday.

Sanchez had a dismal 3-6 record through 11 starts this year with a 6.67 ERA. His last start came Tuesday when he came away with no decision in a game the Tigers lost in walkoff fashion to the Angels 11-9. He also surrendered 14 home runs in 2016, averaging more than one home run per start.

Candidates to replace Sanchez in the rotation include right hander Shane Greene who is looking to work his way back into the rotation after a blister on his throwing hand put him on the DL. Also, left handed throwing Daniel Norris has only seen one inning of work in the majors so far in 2016. That is mostly due to lackluster AAA numbers with Toledo (2-4 5.67 ERA)

The Tigers finish off a six game west coast road trip tonight against the Angels, a road trip that has seen them lose their last four games to drop to 24-27. The Tigers are back at Comerica Park for seven including a makeup against the New York Yankees and home series against the Chicago White Sox and Toronto.
