This should make a lot of players, coaches, and parents somewhat happy, at least for the time being.

According to the Lansing State Journal, a schedule is now in place for the Michigan High School Athletic Association should activity be allowed to resume Dec. 9 following a three week pause designed to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The altered schedule approved by the MHSAA's representative council features weekday football games and winter sports competition starting in January.

Okay, here's the exciting part. In football, the 11 player regionals and 8 player semifinals would take place Tuesday, Dec. 15 or Wednesday, Dec. 16. The 11 player semifinals and 8 player finals will be Dec. 21-22 and 11 player state finals would be Dec. 28-29.

Ford Field will host the 11 player state finals and the 8 player finals will be held at Midland Community Stadium.

Switching gears to volleyball, quarterfinals will take place on Dec.15 and the state semifinals and finals would take place Dec.17-19 at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.

The girls swimming and diving season would pick back up with diving state finals on Tuesday, Dec. 22 and swimming finals on Dec. 23.

MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl said the MHSAA plans to have some outreach with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the governor's office to explain their rationale for why activity should be allowed following the three week pause. (LSJ)

Uyl also said we're continuing to comply with every directive that we're told that we have to do. If we're able to get back to activity on Dec. 9, we're going to restart practices and we're going to get our fall tournaments all concluded during the month of December.
