Trebek (pictured), who's 78 years old, has hosted Jeopardy! since its reincarnation in 1984.  He made the announcement to avoid any speculation or any inaccurate reports.

Alex was born in Canada, and had hosted game shows like "Concentration" during his long TV career.  He was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2011.  He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
