The dates for the 57th Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic high school baseball tournament have been announced, according to committee member Geoff Kimmerly earlier on Thursday.

Kimmerly told WVFN that the 10-team tournament would begin on May 21st with an opening-round doubleheader.  That's followed by quarterfinal doubleheaders on May 22nd and 24th.

Then after a week off for the MHSAA District tournaments to be played, the Diamond Classic resumes on June 4th with the semifinal doubleheader, followed by the championship game on June 6th.

All games are scheduled to be played at Cooley Law School Stadium in downtown Lansing.  If there are weather postponements, games could be moved to Kircher/Municipal Park, just south of Frandor.

Teams participating and times of the games will be announced later this spring.  DeWitt is the defending champion of the Classic.
