1. The first night of the boys basketball tournament lived up to the hype.  There were a number of exciting games, including the Eastern at Waverly game.  The Quakers played outstanding perimeter defense, slowing down the potent Warrior transition game.  Dre Dentmond had 18 points and was great once again.  Eastern pulled a mild upset with a 47-45 road win.  Eastern will play Everett Wednesday, and we'll have the game for you on The Game 730 AM.

Holt got a massive win over Battle Creek Central, 68-64 in double overtime.  BCC was ranked #9 in Class A, and beat Holt handily a few weeks ago.  Colin Jones scored 30 points, and the Rams will play Richland Gull Lake tomorrow.

In the East Lansing district, Okemos knocked off East Lansing in an overtime thrillerHaslett upset DeWitt, 66-46.  Haslett and Okemos will play Wednesday, and we'll broadcast that game as part of our doubleheader.

2. Tom Izzo met with the media yesterday, and discussed the issue of resting Keith Appling amongst other topics.  Joe Rexrode of the Free Press wrote a piece giving an insightful Izzo quote on the issue.

3. The Pistons beat one of the few teams in the NBA that is a bigger train-wreck than them, the New York Knicks 96-85.  Andre Drummond had 17 points and 26 rebounds, and Detroit out-rebounded the Knicks 54-40 overall.

4. LeBron James scored a career high 61 points last night against the Bobcats.  James was 22-33 from the field, including 8-10 from behind the arc and 9-12 from the free throw line.  Yikes.

5. The Red Wings play the Devils tonight after four days off.  Ansar Khan of Mlive.com writes that the Wings will play 22 games in 41 days down the stretch. They will be without Henrik Zetterberg for much of that stretch, and the young guys will have to step up.
