3 Michigan State Players Protest During National Anthem
Three Michigan State football players on Saturday joined a growing trend of those protesting police brutality against minorities.
The three players were Delton Williams, Kenney Lyke and Gabrielle Sherrod. They raised their fists throughout the duration of the national anthem ahead of Saturday's game versus Wisconsin.
The protest began about a month ago with the San Francisco 49ers' Colin Kaepernick, who drew attention when remaining seated during the national anthem as a form of protest to what he termed oppression of minorities in America. Kaepernick has since begun kneeling instead of sitting. Many other players--professional and college--have joined in.
This marks the first time MSU players have participated in the protest.
