2020 NHL Draft Lottery Tentatively Set For April
Other than the draft, the next big date for the Detroit Red Wings will be the NHL Draft Lottery which is set for next month.
According to Sportsnet in Canada, the NHL has tentatively set a date of April 9th for the draft lottery. The lottery will determine the top three picks in the draft. The date may change depending on what the league does with games due to the coronavirus.
The Detroit Red Wings will finish with the worst record in the league and will have an 18.5% chance at the top pick.
They are still guaranteed a top 4 pick if they miss out on the top three picks. Alexis Lafreniere is projected to be the top pick for the upcoming draft.
Other teams with a great chance at the pick include New Jersey and Ottawa. The Senators have their own pick along with the top pick from San Jose.
We'll see who goes where when the NHL draft takes place in Vancouver, June 21st and 22nd.
