1. Detroit Tigers Win Late In Cleveland

The Detroit Tigers got help from J.D. Martinez with a 3 run home run in the 9th inning to help the Tigers win 4-2 over the Cleveland Indians.  The Tigers have won 2 straight games against the Indians and are looking to continue their success in the 4 game series.  Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez all went 3-5 as the Tigers totaled 15 hits in the game.  Kyle Lobstein went 5 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 10 strikeouts but did not get the win.  The bullpen pitching 3 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball with a few walks and hits sprayed throughout those innings.  Phil Coke got the win last night and Joe Nathan got the save last night.

2. Wes Welker Suspended 4 Games

Denver Bronco's wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended for 4 games because he tested positive for amphetamines.  This according to ESPN Adam Schefter.  ESPN's Chris Mortenson reported that Welker was excused from practice to appeal this suspension.  He would be eligible to come back on the active roster on October 6th.  Denver's first game is this weekend vs the Indianapolis Colts.

3. Jim Irsay Suspended

The NFL announced the Jim Irsay has been suspended and fined because of his arrest in March on drug charges.  The suspension is for 6 games, which starts at 5:00 pm eastern time on Wednesday and a fine of $500,000.  With Irsay out, the day to day operations will be handeled by COO Pete Ward, general manager Ryan Grigson and Irsays daughter Carlie Irsay-Gordon. 4. Dallas Cowboys Invites Sam

After being cut by the St. Louis Rams, Michael Sam was invited to Dallas to take a physical.  In a report from ESPN, Sam could be signed for the practice squad.  Sam cleared waivers on Saturday after being cut and can sign with any team he wants.  Read more about the Dallas Cowboys invite to Sam here.

5. Kansas City Tops Rangers

Royals topped the Texas Rangers overcoming two errors winning 2-1.  Former Rangers pitcher Jason Frasor picked up the win for the Royals.  The Royals broke the 1-1 tie late in the game as Salvador Perez got an RBI single.  The Royals are looking to sweep the Rangers tonight as they play at 8:05 before heading out to New York to face the Yankees.
