1. Tigers Top Twins To Win AL Central

Entering the final game of the season, Detroit was one win away from claiming the AL Central.  The Tigers sent David Price to the mound, looking to secure the win and the division.  Price helped lead the way as the Tigers won 3-0.  Price pitched well going 7 and 1/3 innings giving up 4 hits with 8 strikeouts.  Chamberlain and Nathan came in and pitched 1 2/3 combined innings of shutout baseball.  Kinsler lead the team with 3 hits and had 2 RBI's.  This is the 4th AL Central title for Detroit in a row.  They will play Baltimore in the ALDS starting on Thursday October 2nd.

2. Detroit Lions Take Down The Jets

The Detroit Lions traveled to New York to take on the Jets winning 24-17.  The Lions offense got off to a quick start scoring on a field goal and a 59 yard touchdown to Jeremy Ross and a 16 yard touchdown to Eric Ebron. Matthew Stafford had 293 yards with 2 touchdowns passes and 1 rushing touchdown.  Golden Tate lead the way for the receivers with 8 catches and 116 yards.  The Lions are now in sole possession of first place in the NFC North.

3. Michigan State Steamrolls Wyoming

Michigan State took on Wyoming at Spartan Stadium on Saturday and started fast and never looked back winning 56-14.  Michigan State put in an array of players to get more experience for the backup players.  Jeremy Langford had 137 yard on 16 carries for his first 100+ yard game of the year.  The Spartans will now shift their attention to Nebraska as they will play under the lights at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.

4. Michigan's Woes Continue

The University of Michigan battled Minnesota to retain the Little Brown Jug.  But, after scoring first, Michigan could not get the offense going losing 30-14.  Michigan had 171 total yards while Minnesota got 373 yards and could move up and down the field against Michigan's Defense.  Devin Gardner did play in the second half and scored a touchdown.  Michigan will play in Rutgers under the lights next week.

5. Postseason Baseball Is Upon Us

The playoffs are set and ready to take action.  First will be the AL Wild Card game as the Royals will take on the Athletics on Tuesday.  The winner will play the LA Angels  On Wednesday, NL Wild Card game will pit the Pirates against the Giants.  The winner will play the Washington Nationals.  The Tigers will play the Orioles and the Cardinals will play the Dodgers.  Read more about the playoffs here.
