1. Reports: Michigan Will Announce Jim Harbaugh As Coach

It is reported that the University of Michigan will announce Jim Harbaugh as the new coach of the Michigan Wolverines.  The announcement is slated for 12:00 pm.  Sources close to the situation say Harbaugh is expected to sign the richest contract in college football.  Many believe that Harbaugh has already signed the contract as a formality.  Reports from earlier this month have said that Harbaugh is getting a 6 year $48 million contract but exact details have yet to be released.

2. Ndamukong Suh Suspended

The NFL announced that Ndamukong Suh that he will be suspended for the wild-card game in Dallas.  This comes after Suh stepped on Aaron Rogers legs in the week 17 loss to Green Bay.  Suh's suspension comes the day that Dominic Raiola returns from his 1 game suspension for stomping on Ego Ferguson.  Suh has appealed the suspension and will hear from the league before the game on Sunday.  Lions will take on the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday at 4:40 pm.

3. Red Wings Fall To Bruins

Last night, the Detroit Red Wings fell to the Boston Bruins 5-2 in Boston.  The Wings were out-shot 45-30 in the loss.  The Red Wings fell behind early falling behind 3-1 at the end of the first period ultimately falling 5-2 after two Boston goals in the 3rd period.  The Red Wings goals were scored by Justin Abdlekader and Tomas Tartar.  Jimmy Howard made 40 saves on the 44 shots he faced.  The Red Wings will come back home and take on the New Jersey Devils before going on a 6 game west coast road trip to begin the New Year.

4. Bears Fire GM and Coach

A big move was made in the NFC North that could effect the Lions next season.  The Chicago Bears have fired general manager Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman.  Emery was fired after three season as the general manager and Marc Trestman was fired after two seasons.  Trestman's record in the last 2 seasons were 13-19 and went 5-11 this past season.  The Bears have not made the playoffs since 2010 season with head coach Lovie Smith.

5. Atlanta Head Coach, Mike Smith, Fired

The Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced yesterday that they will not bring back Mike Smith.  The Falcons went 6-10 and missed the playoffs the last two seasons.  Smith, who has been with the team for 7 seasons, going 66-46 with four playoff berths.  Smith's high point came two seasons ago when Atlanta went 13-3 a just missed the Super Bowl. Teams are allowed to interview with assistants of teams in the playoffs starting this week.
