1. Pistons Trade Tony Mitchell To Suns

On Wednesday, the Detroit Pistons trade Tony Mitchell to the Phoenix Suns for Anthony Tolliver.  Tony Mitchell was the 43rd overall draft pick for the Pistons last year but has not seen any playing time this regular season but averaged 8.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in the the NBA D-leage last year.  Anthony Tolliver signed with the Suns this past offseason but has not played well this season.  In his 11 minutes per game this season he is averaging about 3 points per game.  Tolliver is a career 41.2% shooter in his 7 NBA seasons.  The Pistons will resume play tonight against the Indiana Pacers at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

2. Central Michigan Falls To Western Kentucky In Thriller

The Central Michigan Chippewas were on the field against Western Kentucky on Wednesday in the Popeye's Bahamas Bowl.  Central Michigan found themselves down 35 points entering the 4th quarter and marched on an improbable comeback with the last play of the game being a last second 3 lateral touchdown.  They failed the 2 point conversion and fell 49-48.  Cooper Rush lead the way for CMU going 28/45 for 493 for 7 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also had 8 rushing attempts for 26 yards.  Central Michigan finishes the year 7-6.

3. (11) Wichita State Falls To George Washington

Last night Wichita State faced George Washington in Hawaii in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic championship game.  George Washington played tough defense holding Wichita State to 31% shooting while George Washington shot 51% from the field. With that, George Washington pulled off the upset winning 60-54.  George Washington had 3 scorers in double figures and hit 9/14 three pointers. Wichita State and George Washington will head back to begin conference play.

4. Josh Smith Going To Houston

Ex-Piston Josh Smith will be going to Houston to join the Rockets.  This, a few days after the Pistons put him on waivers.  Josh Smith is still recieving payment for this season as he will get $13.5 million this season but the remainder $27 million can be stretched out the over 5 seasons.  If the deal goes through, Smith will be at the Palace in late January as the Pistons will host the Rockets.

5. LeBron James Travels Back To Miami For Christmas Day Game

There were a good slate of NBA games on Christmas Day but it was highlighted by LeBron James traveling back to Miami to take on the Heat.  Cleveland who entered the game 17-10 while Miami entered 13-16 and were without Chris Bosh.  Dwayne Wade lead his team to a 31 point performance as Miami won 101-91.  LeBron James got 30 points against his former team but it was not enough.  Kyrie Irving and Loul Deng both had 25.  Cleveland will stay in Florida as they take on the Orlando Magic.
