The Wings responded in kind with seconds left in the 1st period when Justin Abdelkader scored with a wrist shot of his own. Ottawa took the lead in the 2nd with a Clarke MacArthur snap shot. But early in the 3rd, Detroit tied it all up with a Heinrich Zetterberg power play goal . Gustav Nyquist took the victory in overtime with a wrist shot.
