The Wings added onto their lead in the 2nd when Brendan Smith scored with a slap shot. The Islanders got on the board in the 3rd after Lubomir Visnovsky scored with a wrist shot. But Detroit shot back with a Jonathan Ericsson goal. To add a cherry on top, Gustav Nyquist scored a goal late in the 3rd with a wrist shot to clench the goal.
