MSU basketball has been the nation's best in the last 15 years. Michigan State has been to six final fours in the last 15 year's.  MSU is the first Big Ten school to appear in six Final Fours in any 12-year period. Every four-year player recruited by Coach Izzo has appeared in at least one final Four. MSU has gone to 16-traight NCAA Tournaments, the longest active streak in the Big Ten and the third longest active streak in the nation.

The 1999-2000 Spartan team was a team of ultimate destiny. That was head coach Tom Izzo's  first National Championship. This team was led by All-American guard Mateen Cleaves. Cleaves missed the first 13 games of the season, but came back with tons of intensity and leadership. The Spartans finished the season 32-7, and beat the Florida Gators on April 3, 2000, in Indy. That Spartan team was solid as a rock.

Lets not forget about the Spartans first National Championship, it was 1978-79 their head coach was Jud Heathcote. They were led by Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Gregory Kelser. That Spartan team was 26-6 overall crushed everyone in the NCAA Tournament. Finishing the season beating Larry Bird and Indiana State 75-64. That team also was solid as a rock. Both Spartan National Champs were great teams. Now can Tom Izzo get his second National Championship and Michigan State's third?
