The Detroit Red Wings will be competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 23rd consecutive season.

The last time the NHL's postseason tournament didn't feature the Red Wings: Gas was about $1 a gallon, the NHL was a 20-team league and three of the current Wings (Riley Sheahan, Thomas Jurco and Brian Lashoff) weren't even born yet.

Detroit begins its playoff run 7:30 p.m. Friday at Boston. The Wings took three of four from the Bruins in the regular season.
