ESPN is reporting that The Ohio State University has placed head football coach Urban Meyer (pictured above) on administrative leave pending an investigation into claims that Coach Meyer knew about previous allegations into domestic violence of a now-former assistant coach.

College football writer/commentator Brett McMurphy reported earlier on Wednesday that Meyer knew about the allegations of domestic abuse, dating back to 2015, against assistant coach Zach Smith by Smith's ex-wife Courtney.

Meyer told the media last week at Big Ten Football Media Days that he only fired Smith after he learned about an allegation from earlier this year.

McMurphy posted on his Facebook page that he has text messages from Courtney Smith and he posted pictures of Courtney Smith showing bodily bruises, presumably of the abuse she suffered.

ESPN reports that assistant coach Ryan Day will take over as interim coach while the investigation of Coach Meyer is going on.
