The Minnesota Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers tonight, 4-3. Starting Pitchers Rick Porcello was engaged in a pitching duel with Ricky Nolasco until the 4th when Kurt Suzuki hit an RBI single, bringing home Kennys Vargas. Vargas would later hit a single run homer in the 6th. J.D. Martinez took the plate in the 9th with runners at the corners and hit a 2 out homer to give the Tigers in the lead. But the Twins wern't going anywhere. Closer Joe Nathan walked Doug Bernier, and Suzuki got him home by hitting an RBI double to tie up the game. Aaron Hicks got the winning run after hitting an RBI single to score Chris Herrmann. Detroit is one game ahead of the second place Kansas City Royals in division standings. The Tigers play the Twins again tomorrow, pregame coverage starts at 7:45 PM on Lansing's Big Talker, 1240 AM, WJIM.
