Last night was supposed to be home court advantage for the Iowa Hawkeyes. But, it didn't happen like the Iowa fan base might have thought. The MSU Spartan hoop team clobbered the Hawkeye's 75-61. Starting guard Travis Trice had 25 points, with seven 3's.

MSU was down by eleven at the half, but came roaring back. MSU has stumbled in some past games. But they put it all together in the second half. The Spartans are 11-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

One thing you can always count on is Tom Izzo's stamp on this team. The Spartans lost players to the NBA and graduation last season. That means other role players have to step it up, with their chance to show their talent. Like I said, if you play for Coach Izzo you better play with intensity and absolute toughness. I feel so far  in these areas the team has been up and down.

Any time Coach Izzo puts a team on the floor they have a shot at beating any D-1 team. This year Lansing native and Sexton grad Denzel Valentine has to continue to get better, and he will. Travis Trice, Matt Costello, Gavin Schilling, and Tum-Tum also have to get better. But Brandon Dawson is going to be the key for this team to get better. MSU will go as far as Brandon Dawson takes them. I really believe that.

But always remember this: Tom Izzo is like All-State--you're always in good hands.
