Tim Duncan, who won five NBA championships during his 19-year career, all with the San Antonio Spurs, announced his retirement from the NBA on Monday morning.

"The Big Fundamental" as he was called, was the league's Most Valuable Player on two different occasions and took three NBA Finals MVP trophies home as well.

Duncan played his collegiate basketball at Wake Forest.  He was the number one draft choice of the Spurs in 1997, and he won the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1998.
