The Detroit Tigers (32-25) ended a 5 game losing streak tonight by defeating the Boston Red Sox (27-33) in the first of a 3 game series, 6-2. Boston would take an early lead in the 1st after a fly double from the bat of Xander Bogaerts, which scored Brock Holt. In the 3rd, a ground ball single from Andrew Romine brought home Nick Castellanos. Detroit would add onto their lead in the 4th after a sacrifice fly from Victor Martinez, bringing in Torii Hunter. In the 5th, back to back homers were hit, first by Ian Kinsler, then followed by Torii Hunter. The Red Sox gained a run in the 6th after a sacrifice fly from Johnny Gomes scored Dustin Pedroia. The final runs were scored in the 8th, with a homer from Victor Martinez, and Bryan Holaday scored after a sacrifice fly from Austin Jackson.
