The Texas Southern Tigers came into East Lansing and upset the 25th ranked Michigan State Spartans 71-64 in overtime Saturday afternoon at Breslin Center.  The Tigers (2-8) stayed close the entire game thanks to a 15-4 lead in points off of turnovers and took their first lead with 1:18 left in the game. Michigan State (8-4) managed to tie the game with seven seconds left when Javon Bess hit one of two free throws to send the game to the extra period. In overtime though, TSU outplayed the Spartans and secured their second win of the season.  The Tigers were led by Chris Thomas who led all scorers in the game with 22 points. Malcolm Riley added 20 and Jason Carter chipped in 13. Michigan State had two scorers in double figures led by Matt Costello who scored 17 points and pulled down 10m rebounds off the bench and Denzel Valentine added 15. The Spartans will try to regain their winning ways on Monday night with they will host The Citadel. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM and Classic Rock 94.9 WMMQ.
