The Detroit Tigers ran out to a 7-3 lead then hung on in the ninth inning for an 8-6 win over the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park Friday night. Led by solo home runs from Nick Casellanos and Eugenio Suarez, his first major league hit, and an RBI triple from Ian Kinsler, Detroit (33-25) seemed to have the game under control,  However Boston (27-34) rallied for a run in the seventh and two in the ninth to get within two runs. Joe Nathan then induced Stephen Drew into a fly out to end the game. Max Scherzer (7-2) earned the win pitching 6.2 innings and strking out nine. Jon Lester (6-7) couldn't make it out of the fourth giving up 12 hits and five runs in the loss. The two teams complete their series Sunday night with Anibal Sanchez (2-2) starting for Detroit and John Lackey (6-4) taking the hill for the Sox, Pregame coverage begins at 7:40pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
