The Detroit Tigers used Niko Goodrum's 2 home runs and solid pitching from starter Mike Fiers to break an 11-game losing streak to the Cleveland Indians with a 6-3 victory at Comerica Park on Monday night.

Goodrum (pictured) hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning off of Indians starter Carlos Carrasco to give the Tigers (18-22) a 3-1 lead.  He then hit a 3-run bomb in the eight inning of reliever Zach McAllister to give the Tigs the cushion they needed to win.

Goodrum was 2-4 with 5 runs batted in.  Jose Iglesias added two hits as well.  Starting pitcher Mike Fiers went six innings, giving up a only solo homer to Jose Ramirez in the 1st inning while allowing only three hits total.

With the triumph, the Tigers pull within two games of Cleveland (20-20) in the American League Central.  Game 2 of the series is on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.  You can hear coverage on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM, beginning with the pregame at 6:45pm.
