One day after Detroit Tigers catcher James McCann was hit in the hand by a pitch, the team announced on Friday that they have put him on the 10-day disabled list.  The team called up IF/C John Hicks from AAA Toledo to replace him on the active roster.

McCann is hitting .204 with 7 HR and 17 RBI in 33 games this season.  He was hit in the hand during Thursday night's 7-6 loss to the Houston Astros.

Hicks has been up with the big club this season.  He's appeared in seven games, hitting .423 with one home run and 7 RBI.
