On Friday, the Detroit Tigers purchased the contract of reliever Warwick Saupold from AAA-Toledo to add to their bullpen.

Saupold, 26, is a native Australia and is boasting a 2.37 ERA in eight games (four starts)

The Tigers bullpen is struggling, as evidenced by a blown win on Thursday that saw a 5-0 lead go by the wayside to Baltimore, eventually resulting in a 7-5 loss. Saupold's promotion is an effort to solidify the back end of games.

Daniel Norris was optioned down to Toledo to make room on the 25-man roster in  a corresponding move.

Saupold will pitch for Australia in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, so you know he's got some good stuff.
