The Detroit Tigers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays tonight in extra innings, 8-6. looked like the Rays would dominate after a 3 run homer off the bat of James Loney in the 1st. The Rays would add onto their lead in the 2nd after Ben Zobrist hit a sharp grounder to bring home Vince Belnome. Things started to turn around for the Tigers in the 5th after Rays Pitcher Chris Archer walked Ian Kinsler with bases loaded. Torii Hunter grounded out to bring in Andrew Romine. And after a challenge from Brad Ausmus, it was decided that Miguel Cabrera hit a line drive single to bring home Ian Kinsler to bring the Tigers within 1. In the 6th Rajai Davis hit a line drive single to score Alex Avila, tying the game in the process. In the 8th, J.D. Martinez took the lead with a homer. In the 8th, Joba Chamberlain loaded the bases, and Belnome hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Evan Longoria to tie up the game going into the 11th inning when Grant Balfour walked Victor Martinez with the bases loaded to give the Tigers a 6-5 lead. Torii Hunter scored a run after a wild pitch while Don Kelly was at bat. Bryan Holaday hit a sacrifice fly to score Miguel Cabrera for an 8-5 lead going to the bottom of the 11th. Longoria hit a single to bring home Zorbist.
