The Detroit Tigers won a much-needed victory against the Twins tonight, 8-6. Tigers got on the board first with a soft line drive single off the bat of Bryan Holaday, bringing home Victor Martinez. The Twins tied the game in the second when Kurt Suzuki tied the game with a line drive single to score Trevor Plouffe. Detroit reclaimed the lead in the 3rd with J.D. Martinez singling with a soft grounder to bring in Torii Hunter. Minnesota took the lead again in the 3rd starting with a Joe Mauer double with a run from Danny Santana, and a Plouffe double to bring in Brian Dozier for a run. The Tigers refused to go quietly, when Miguel Cabrera grounded out during a double play, but this allowed Ian Kinsler to get home in the 5th. In the 6th, Eugenio Suarez hit a line drive single, bringing home Nick Castellanos with Bryan Holaday scoring after a fielding error. Castellanos scored 2 runs in the 7th after a line drive single brought home Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez. The Twins fought back when Kennys Vargas grounded out to bring home Dozier. Miguel Cabrera hit a ground single to bring home Suarez for a 3 run lead in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th, Dozier hit a line drive double to score Jordan Schafer. The Tigers play the Twins again tomorrow, pregame coverage begins at 1:45 PM on Lansing's Big Talker, 1240 AM, WJIM.
