The Detroit Tigers (36-30) suffered another bad day tonight, losing to the Kansas City Royals, 11-8. The Tigers were the first to get on the board in the 3rd after a fly double from Rajai Davis scored Alex Avila.  A line drive single from Austin Jackson scored J.D. Martinez in the 4th. But all good things must come to an end, as the Royals would get on the board in the 5th. A single from Omar Infante brought home Alcides Escobar, and Billy Butler hit a fly double to score Infante, Nori Aoki and Eric Hosmer. Then in the 6th Infante hit a 3 run homer. Things went from bad to worse in the 7th, starting with a ground ball single from Lorenzo Cain to score Billy Butler. Mike Moustakas reached base after a throwing error from pitcher Evan Reed. This scored Alex Gordon and Brett Hayes. Escobar would go on to hit a line drive single to bring home Cain. The Tigers rekindled some fight in the 9th. Rajai Davis hit a ground ball single to bring home Nick Castellanos. Victor Martinez hit a single to score Andrew Romine. And J.D. Martinez hit a grand slam to bring the Tigers within 3. Tigers play again tomorrow night, game broadcast begins at 6:40 PM on Lansing's Big Talker, WJIM, 1240 AM.
