Tigers Hold On Late, Slip By O’s 7-6
The Detroit Tigers had a 7-1 lead going into the 9th inning but a five run rally by the Baltimore Orioles cut the lead to one before Joe Nathan slammed the door and gave Detroit their fourth win in a row. Torii Hunter led the way for the Tigers (4-0) going 2-5 with a home run and a double good for five RBI's. Don Kelly went 3-4 with an RBI and Rajai Davis' sacrifice fly RBI completed the Tigers scoring. Steve Clevenger's pinch hit double scored two in the 9th for the Orioles (1-4) and Adam Jones had an RBI triple to get Baltimore within one run. Rick Porcello (1-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win while Bud Norris (0-2) took the loss. Nathan recorded his first save of the season. The two teams conclude their three game series Sunday at Comerica Park. Justin Verlander (0-0) takes the mound for Detroit while Chris Tillman (0-0) will be on the hill for Baltimore.
