The Detroit Tigers stopped a three game losing streak by beating the Kansas City Royals 2-1 Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park. Detroit (37-32) climb within a half game of Kansas City (37-33) for first place in the American League Central division on the strength of a 4th inning home run by J.D.Martinez that broke a 1-1 tie. Anibal Sanchez (4-2) pitched seven innings for the win, Danny Duffy (4-6) took the loss and Joe Nathan struck out the side in the ninth for his 14th save. Detroit will now being a nine game road trip beginning with a trip to Cleveland to start a three game series Friday night. Rick Porcello (8-4) will take the hill for the Tigers while Corey Kluber (6-4) gets the start for the Indians.  Pregame coverage beings at 6:40pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
