The Detroit Tigers ended their four game losing streak with a 8-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday night at Comerica Park. Detroit (64-54) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI triple from Nick Castellanos but then Pittsburgh (64-56) tied the game in the third and took the lead with three runs in the fourth capped off by a two run homer off the bat of Travis Snider. The Tigers then tied the game again in the fifth inning thanks to a 2 run single from Victor Martinez and a solo home run by Alex Avila. Castellanos then gave the Tigers the lead for good with his own solo home run in the sixth. Blane Hardy (2-1) pitched two innings of relief of rookie Buck Farmer who made his first major league start, to earn the win while Vance Worley (5-2) took the loss. The two teams conclude their series Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park. Max Scherzer (13-4) throws for Detroit while Francisco Liriano (3-8) will start for the Pirates.
