The Detroit Tigers (48-34) gave a serious beat down against the Tampa Bay Rays (38-50) tonight, 8-1. The action started in the first with Tampa Bay when Evan Longoria hit a sacrifice fly to score Desmond Jennings. At the bottom of the first, the Tigers came out for blood, Starting with a home run off the bat of Ian Kinsler. Victor Martinez followed with a 2 run homer of his own, and Torii Hunter hit a homer as well. Detroit added onto their lead in the 2nd with a ground ball single from J.D. Martinez to score Miguel Cabrera. In the 4th, a line drive single from Hunter, scoring Cabrera. In the 6th, J.D. Martinez grounds to a force out, Bringing home Cabrera. Tigers starter Max Scherzer threw over 100 pitches in 8 innings.  The Tigers take on the Rays again tomorrow, game broadcast begins at 6:40 PM on Lansing's Big Talker, WJIM, 1240 AM.
