On Tuesday night The Detroit Tigers have traded Mike Aviles and Kade Scivicque to the Atlanta Braves for Erick Aybar.

Aybar is hitting .242 with two home runs,  26 RBIs in 97 games this season. Since the all-star break he is .313.

Tigers general manager Al Avila initiated the deal to add depth and offense to the lineup.

"The main reason for this move is to upgrade our utility position. We feel that Aybar could give us a little more offense from that utility position. Right now, he gives us an experienced, veteran-type player that we feel that will give us a little better offense than, let’s say, Aviles at this point, and the same versatility, really,” said Avila.

Aviles, 35, played six different positions in Detroit and appeared in 68 games. He struggled at the plate batting .210 with one home run and six RBIs.
