Fourteen time major champion Tiger Woods announced on Tuesday that he is skipping the U.S. Open at Oakmont, and his own tournament, the Quicken Loans National, due to his lingering back injuries.

Tiger has not played since last year's Wyndham Championship in August.  The 116th U.S. Open at Oakmont CC in Pennsylvania begins on June 16th.  The Quicken Loans National is the following week at Congressional CC in suburban Washington, D.C.

Tiger is a three-time U.S. Open winner, he last won that tournament in 2008 in a playoff over Rocco Mediate.
