March 26th is a day worth remembering for sports fans in this state.

39 years ago, Michigan State basketball won its first ever National Championship as Jud Heathcote and Earvin "Magic" Johnson led the Spartans to a 75-64 win over Indiana State and Larry Bird. Johnson had 24 points in the win, Greg Kelser added 19 points and eight rebounds.

Relive the last minute of that game.

Additionally, 20 years ago on this date Bloody Wednesday occurred at Joe Louis Arena when the Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche racked up 148 penalty minutes over the course of a 6-5 Detroit win in overtime. Notably Igor Larionov kicked off the biggest brawl sparring with Peter Forsberg and Patrick Roy and Mike Vernon got together for one of the best goalie fights of all-time. Oh, and of course McCarty pounding a turtle.

The brawl from one of the best rivalries in all of hockey.

Are there any memories from this day we missed? Let us know.
