After resigning after nearly eight full seasons as head boys basketball coach of East Lansing this past winter, Steve Finamore has resurfaced as the new head boys basketball coach at Lansing Sexton HS.

Brian Calloway of the Lansing State Journal reports on Wednesday afternoon that Finamore takes over for previous head coach J. Otis Davis.

Finamore coached the Trojans to two straight Class A district titles in 2016 and 2017 behind Mr. Basketball runner-up Brandon Johns, and during the last several years he led the Trojans to a 46 game regular season winning streak plus the CAAC Blue championship in '16 and '17.

He takes over a Sexton program that has struggled in the years since the Big Reds won the Class B state titles in 2011 and 2012, plus a Class B Finals appearance in 2010 under former coach Carlton Valentine.  The Big Reds went 2-19 in 2017-18 under Davis.
